MPVI2, 2+, and 3 Standalone Data Logging
Requirements
- MPVI2/2+ with Pro Feature Set or MPVI3
- VCM Scanner 4.9.238 or higher
- MPVI2 firmware v3.1.2 or higher
Setup
- Open VCM Scanner.
- Connect your MPVI2, 2+, or 3 to your computer with the USB cable.
- In the menu, select Help > Resync Interface. The firmware will update automatically.
Note: MPVI2 users must have firmware v3.1.2 or higher for standalone data logging.
- In the menu, select Vehicle > MPVI2 Data Logging.
- Click Resync Interface Resources. The update will take 10-15 seconds.
- To send your current channel configuration to the device, click Write Channels Config. Otherwise, leave it set to Vehicle Defaults.
Configuring Start Triggers (Optional)
By default, a short press of the BT button will start logging. You can also set triggers based on the vehicle’s acceleration.
- In the menu, select Vehicle > MPVI2 Data Logging and go to the Start/Stop Triggers tab.
- If desired, select Street Car or Race Car for preset values in the Sustained Acceleration fields.
- Configure fields in the Start Trigger group:
- Short Button Press: Starts logging with a short BT button press (when enabled).
- Instantaneous Acceleration: Starts logging when the specified acceleration is reached.
- Sustained Acceleration:Starts logging when the specified acceleration is sustained for a set duration (e.g., 0.05 G for 1 second).
Note: Avoid using accelerometer triggers with OBD extension cables as movement may impact accuracy.
- When done, click Set Triggers.
Configuring Stop Triggers (Optional)
By default, a short press of the BT button will stop logging. You can also configure triggers based on RPM or acceleration.
- In the menu, select Vehicle > MPVI2 Data Logging and go to the Start/Stop Triggers tab.
- Choose Street Car or Race Car for suggested RPM values.
- Configure fields in the OR Trigger Group or AND Trigger Group:
- Short Button Press: Stops logging with a short BT button press (when enabled).
- Sustained Acceleration: Stops logging when acceleration drops below the specified value for a set duration.
- RPM: Stops logging when RPM falls below a specified value for a set time.
- Click Set Triggers to save.
Note: Logging also stops if there is no movement and zero RPM for one minute.
Generating a LogDisconnect the device from your computer, ensuring it’s not connected via Bluetooth® to any app.
Wait up to two minutes for the device to be ready for logging (or unplug and reconnect it to the OBD-II port for a quicker reset).
Connect the device to the vehicle’s OBD-II port.
Start the engine or set the vehicle to ON/RUN without starting the engine. Logging should begin 5-10 seconds after the trigger is met (the amber OBD light will flash).
Note: Logging stops automatically when the stop triggers are met. To stop manually, press the BT button.
Caution: Always use the stop button before unplugging the device to prevent data loss.
Note: For first-time logging on a new vehicle, allow an additional 5 seconds for initiation.

- Avoid connecting to VCM Suite, TDN, or TrackAddict during logging, as this will stop the process. Data logged up to that point will be saved.
- If data logging fails to start (e.g., ignition off), it will reset and wait for a new trigger.
- During startup, the OBD and Host lights may flash intermittently—this is normal.
Retrieving Log Files
- Open VCM Scanner.
- Connect the interface device to your computer.
- Select Vehicle > MPVI2 Data Logging and go to the Log Files tab. Recent logs appear at the top and are named with a sequence number and VIN.
Note: MPVI2 lacks a persistent clock, so dates will default to 1980 unless connected to VCM Suite, TDN, or TrackAddict in the same power cycle.
- Select the desired log file and click Read Selected.
- Choose a destination folder to save the file.
