Remote Tuning: Master/ Slave
The Master/Slave system allows tuners to create a tune file that another user can write to a vehicle but not view or edit.
Licensing Requirements
- If the tuner is using an MPVI:
- Both interfaces must license the vehicle.
- If the tuner is using an MPVI2 and VCM Suite 4.xx or later:
- Only the interface writing the tune to the vehicle needs to license it.
Assigning Master and Slave Interfaces
In VCM Editor, go to Tune Details > Remote Tuning to assign Master and Slave interfaces.
- Master Tuner ID:
- Your Tuner ID. Any VCM Editor with an application key for this Tuner ID will have full access to open, view, edit, save, and flash the file.
- Slave Interface IDs:
- The MPVI serial numbers of interfaces that should have write-only access.
- These interfaces can only flash the file to a vehicle but cannot view or edit it.
- The serial numbers can be found on the back of each interface.
How to Use the Master/Slave System
Set Up the Master/Slave Access
- Click Insert or Change to enter your Master Tuner ID.
- Enter one or more Slave Interface IDs (MPVI serial numbers), with one serial number per line.
Clear the Master/Slave Access
- Click Clear Master/Slave to remove all assigned IDs.
Example Scenario
- Master Tuner ID: 0000999999 → Full access to view, edit, save, and flash.
- Slave Interface IDs: 9898989898 and 9797979797 → Can only flash the file, no editing or viewing.
