MPVI Pro Standalone Data Logging
Note: This feature is available for late-model GM vehicles only.
Setup
To set up standalone data logging for the first time on a new vehicle or when switching vehicles:
- Turn the vehicle’s ignition to ON/RUN.
- Connect the MPVI Pro to the vehicle’s OBD-II port and to your laptop’s USB port.
- Open VCM Scanner.
- Click the Connect icon in the toolbar.
- Ensure the channels you wish to log are listed in the Channel display (add or delete channels as needed).
- (Optional) Click Save Channel Config to save your channel configuration.
- In the menu, select Vehicle > MPVI Pro Data Logging. The MPVI Pro Standalone Data Logging Functions window will open.
- Click Write Config to write the current channel configuration to the MPVI Pro.
Note: Writing a new configuration will erase any logs currently stored on the device.
- Disconnect the MPVI Pro’s USB cable from your laptop.
Generating a Log
The MPVI Pro can store up to 32 individual logs or approximately 80 minutes of data. Actual capacity may vary based on the vehicle and the data recording rate.
- Start the vehicle (if it isn’t already running).
- To start recording, press and hold the Record button on the MPVI Pro for 2 seconds.
- To stop recording, press and hold the Stop button for 2 seconds.
Caution: Always use the stop button to end logging. Powering down the unit while recording or while the Busy LED is lit may corrupt the log.
Inserting a Marker
To insert a marker during recording:
- Press the Record button for 1 second. The Busy light will blink, indicating that a marker has been added.
Note: There is a 2-second delay before you can add another marker.
Additional Notes
- All button presses take 1 second to validate.
- The Record light blinks when 90% of the memory is used (about 6 minutes of space remaining).
- The ERR light flashes if the interface fails to establish communication with the vehicle.
- The ERR light remains solid if no configuration is loaded, if the interface memory is full, or if a corrupt log location is detected.
