Loading and Saving the Channel Configuration

It’s recommended to save separate channel configurations for common tasks and vehicles. However, VCM Scanner will remember all changes made to the channel configuration and reload them automatically each time you open the software, so saving is only necessary when creating specific setups for future use.

Saving the Current Channel Configuration

To save your current channel configuration:

  1. Click the Save Channel Config   icon at the top of the Channels list.
  2. Enter a file name and click Save.

Channel configurations are saved as XML files and include the following details:

  • Parameter ID
  • Parameter Source
  • Polling Interval
  • Applied Transforms (if any)

Loading a Saved Configuration

To load a previously saved channel configuration:

  1. Click the Channel Config   icon at the top of the Channels list.
  2. Select Open Channel Config.
  3. Browse for the desired saved channel configuration file.
  4. Click Open.

Loading the Default Channel Configuration

You can load one of two default channel configurations for the current vehicle:

  1. Connect to the vehicle or select its vehicle profile.

  2. Click the Channel Config   icon at the top of the Channels list.

  3. Choose one of the following options:

    • Load SAE Defaults
Loads a basic set of SAE-supported parameters for the vehicle, providing a standard set of channels.

    • Load Vehicle Defaults
Loads a more comprehensive set of manufacturer-specific and SAE parameters for the current vehicle. This option is typically the best starting point for most vehicles.
